THE AUTHOR’S PERSPECTIVE 

I have visited classrooms and book groups – both via video conference and in-person as a special guest. It is a joy for me to discuss my stories and poems with people who have just finished reading them, to receive their critiques and questions and to explain my point of view. 


 

FROM NOTEBOOK TO NOVEL: The Spark of Creativity 
Writing for young readers and the creative process. 

For writers’ groups, teachers, and students through 8th grade. In a one-hour presentation, I discussed the notion that good writing starts with a great idea. While telling stories I discuss methods of how to conceive, develop, and convey a story. 



ART IN ACTION 

Illustrations and text work together harmoniously on the page. There is often a playful connection created between the two forms of communication, creating a multilayered story. In a 50-minute presentation Geoffrey discusses his use of art materials and techniques as a vehicle for saying something in a meaningful way.




CREATIVE WRITING CLASSROOM INTERACTIVE

Inspire your students to develop a passion for writing, practice reading comprehension, and build vocabulary and grammar skills. In a 50 minute exercise, Geoffrey Gatza guides students through a 5 sentence short story. By emphasizing the importance of drafting and revising, and encourage students to use their imagination!



COLLAGE ILLUSTRATION CLASSROOM INTERACTIVE

Inspire your students to develop a passion for collage, daily creative practice and using their imagination to make art with basic materials. In a 50 minute exercise, Geoffrey Gatza guides students through a small paper collage exercise to make a take-home piece of art. Geoffrey provides all the materials needed.
